Do they call it a french kiss because the french were the first people to kiss with their tongues? The french have always been thought of as passionate lovers, but you wouldn’t know it by the wimpy french film “Shall We Kiss”.
Writer, director and star Emmanuel Mouret has made a passionless drama (or is it a comedy?) about someone who is so shy and insecure that he turns lovemaking into something resembling a biology seminar.
“Shall We Kiss” is a movie about relationships without romance. Sex without seduction. It’s manipulative and contrived. These characters are beyond stupid. This movie is about as entertaining as watching insects try to mate.
DVD Watch: The seemingly brain-dead female who falls for Mouret’s preposterous methods in “Shall We Kiss” is the wonderful french actress Virginie Ledoyen. She burst onto the scene in 1996 starring in a beautiful french film called “A Single Girl”.
